The Pollutant Transport (PL) module for QGIS GUI allows simulating the dispersion of contaminants in water. It is fully coupled with the RiverFlow2D hydrodynamics calculations and considers solute transport by advection, dispersion and reaction. The PL module relies on the depth and velocities calculated by RiverFlow2D and computes solute concentrations at each time step for all cells. The module can consider multiple reactive contaminants that can exchange mass with one another based on first order reaction terms.
What can you simulate with RiverFlow2D PL?
Two-dimensional pollutant dispersion in rivers and estuaries
Determining the pollutant concentrations based on virtually any discharge scenario
Evaluate pollutant plume maps and evalution in time
Why choosing RiverFlow2D PL for pollutant transport assesments ?
Full two-dimensional equations on flexible meshes
Finite-volume numerical solution for exact mass, momentum and dispersion conservation
Import any terrain elevation data files
Automatic generation of flexible mesh that can be adapted to any geometry and complex terrain
Consider multiple pollutants simultaneously, e.g. salinity, e-coli, etc.
Evaluate multiple pollutants that interact with linear reaction rates
Provides faster runtimes than any other model using GPU technology and Cloud Computing
Output animations and high-quality maps
Fully integrated with QGIS GUI
